ConGRADulations!

My first Graduation celebration came a very busy time of the week, within a very busy month. At the same time I had been forced to turn down big orders, I took on this smaller one.... Why? I asked that too and at first I was unsure of the decision. If this order hadn't been as small as it was (eight cake pops), and had the design not been this simple (a single letter on each) I wouldn't have even attempted it. However, as it turned out, less was more for visual impact when it came to these cake pops, spelling out "CONGRATS" in sweet chocolaty goodness all standing proud in a stand I fashioned to look like a graduation cap.

Their simple design and clear message were quite charming when I stood back and looked at the whole package, and it reminded me that even though these little cakes were celebrating a big milestone in someones life, that the little, simpler things are worth celebrating too.

Keira is Two with Winnie the Pooh!!

When asked several months ago by one of my colleagues if I would make some cake pops for her daughter's 2nd Birthday in August I knew that what ever design I did they would have to be adorable! For a couple weeks, we toyed with doing either Mickey Mouse (a classic) or Winnie the Pooh (another classic). When the decision was made to go with a Pooh themed party, I automatically started thinking how I would try and represent this iconic bear in cake and chocolate. As usual I did my research and Googled several images of Pooh Bear to decided what were the main characteristics that made him special from other cartoon bears. One was his yellow colour: soft and mellow. Second his smile; wide and fun. Third his little eyes: too big and they changed his face completely, likewise with his eyebrows- they had to be just right. Once all these components came together there he was, Winnie the Pooh times 20 smiling at me from my kitchen counter. To finish them all off, I made a cake pop stand with foam and used paper to make a "Hunny" pot.

It seemed like the Birthday Girl was in for a wonderful day, so hopefully these will just be the.... chocolate...on the cake!

Happy 2nd Birthday Keira!!!!

Puppy Love

The second auction lot was successfully delivered this weekend despite all this heat!! Last weekend, I asked the luck lady if she had any thoughts about what she wanted. She was having all her family round to her house, and she wanted something special for the grand kids. Being a Brit, she ask if they could have puppy dogs... in red white and blue for the Union Flag. I paused, making sure she was serious, then answered: "I think I can work with that".

This is what came out of my head. I had wanted to include some medals in honour of the Olympics, but maybe next time.
Go Team GB!!

Happy Birthday Chelsea!

Lots of Birthdays at the Spa in July. A week after Jordana got her treats, we celebrated Chelsea with something sweet. Looking at her, Chelsea looks glamorous and accessorized so naturally I wanted her cake pops to reflect that. I did single dip with red and dipped them in shiny sugar to make them sparkle. Ironically when Chelsea cam into work and I showed her them, she was wearing a red top and had just dyed her hair red; somehow I knew they would match each other!

Happy Birthday Chels!

Happy Birthday Jordana!!

As a little treat and surprise for one of the girls I work with, I brought in a few cake pops for everyone to share and to celebrate her Birthday!! At almost the end of a busy Saturday, hopefully these sweet treats helped!

Happy Birthday Jordana!!

Shower Time, Anyone??

While making these, I couldn't help but hear Ernie singing "Rubber ducky, you're the one!" These happy little duckies were made especially for a surprise baby shower and given that the expectant parents don't know the gender of the baby, these were gender-non-specific bath-time friends dressed up, as requested, in green and pink bows. I loved how they turned out, and I hope the Mummy-to-be was as taken by them as I was!

We're Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo!

Where better to take a group of zoo-ey six-year-olds for a birthday party? A Zoo!! The lucky Birthday Boy, James will be celebrating his 6th Birthday in style, getting into lots of "monkey business" and probably not "lion" about too much (sorry, couldn't resist!).

Hopefully these creatures will give the kid's roars of laughter, and they'll just be an added bonus to an already fantastic day! Too add to their fun I made them a zeal of zebras, a troop of monkeys, and an ambush or swift of tigers!

Happy Birthday to you, James!
